Outgoing Mail

In American warfare vernacular, outgoing mail is a term for friendly artillery intended for the enemy. Here at Tigerbait, it's a you tube to get you in the the right mood about the Tiger's whipping their next opponent and just getting out of the office for the weekend. I give you: Summertime by the Saints' defensive tackle Will Smith.

For the first time in a long time, there's nothing LSU is competing in, nothing to get fired up about. It's sixty sum odd days until football and the Tiger fan's paradoxical, summer hibernation has begun. That's why you get mellow stuff like Summertime. It's almost July 4th, you should be planning to be a part of a barbeque and blowing American dollars on Chinese 10th century explosives. Me? I'm going to the Peach Festival this weekend. It's my hometown and peach ice cream always rocks. There's a decent car show anyways. It's free and fun, saves money for my pyro habit I always indulge in on the 4th.

If you're dying for LSU tidbits, here's a couple. I'm continuing to hear how awesome Patrick Johnson is. This kid is supposed to be one of those once every few years studs (period, not just at cornerback). It will surprise no one if he ends up starting this year, he's that good. We'll see. I have said before I don't get excited over recruiting or hype until I see the player on the field. But EVERYTHING I hear is that this guy will be special.

Baseball is done and I'm proud of the Tigers. Now the only thing left to do is sort out who goes to the Majors via the draft and who stays. Mainieri says Blake Martin has signed already with Matt Clark and Ryan Verdugo soon to follow. I wish them the success that guys like Hawpe, Fontenot and The Riot have found recently. The coach also says it seems Louis Coleman will stay. I like that news and agree with Mainieri that Coleman could be our next Jared Bradford. Combine him with upcoming talent like Renaudo and I think LSU's pitching only gets stronger.

I'm really, really serious about those essays I mentioned previously. Coming soon, the Spring Game Revisited and then possibly the sure to be awesome The BCS Isn't Broken, You Are. In the meantime, enjoy yourself.
