OMAHA! The Hard Way!

Holy crap! Un. Be. Lievable!

I thought that LSU bats would not be stifled by UCI pitching. But I (and none of you) certainly didn't think LSU would put up 24 hits and 21 runs on the 'Eaters.

Noone thought LSU would send one of the NCAA's best starting pitchers to the dugout in the middle of the first inning.

Noone thought Blake Dean would go 5 for 5, or Ryan Schimpf would go 4 for 5 with 5 RBIs, or that LSU would hit - wait for it - 24 for 49. That's .490, folks. 7 home runs.

Tiger pitching wasn't lights out, but it was PLENTY good enough. Perhaps the best stat is that the Tiger hurlers only walked two batters. Against a UCI team that can work the bases and take advantage of errors, that's huge.

But clearly, CLEARLY, this game was about the hitting. And LSU got into the 'Eaters psyche in the first 5 at bats and it was effectively over before the first out of the game.

It was so over that ESPN - losers - cut to the Arizona State/Fresno State game in the fifth. (Which admittedly was a better "game". But who cares - everyone wants to watch LSU! Certainly!)

No matter - I moved over to the computer, listened to Jim and Charlie bring Alex Box to a close for good.

What a fantastic way to retire Alex Box. And what a way to honor Skip as he enters a well deserved and sorely needed retirement.

North Carolina is next.

Tigers pwn goats.

(BTW: Fresno State upset the Sun Devils.)
