In American warfare vernacular, outgoing mail is a term for friendly artillery intended for the enemy. Here at Tigerbait, it's a you tube to get you in the the right mood about the Tiger's whipping their next opponent and just getting out of the office for the weekend. I give you: The New Black by Every Time I Die
That's just video awesomeness right there. Dare you not to like it. Watch it once and just let the art wash over you. Now, play it again and listen as I drop the science on the regional.
In order to do that, you have to ask yourself questions such as, "where are we going? where have we been? what are we doing?" Omaha is where we're going. And LSU has come a long, long way. From a losing team I cited for it's glaring lack of timely hitting and costly fielding ineptitude to a machine of offensive production and good pitching, it's been a great turnaround. Now, what to do about it. Because no one but no one is going to give a dang about that, the streak, the Box, our tradition, the past titles. LSU has to play just as well and better to achieve more.
Everyone is taking Texas Southern for granted. But beware! This is the school that beat Rice in 2004. No one gave one scintilla of thought of mighty Rice falling in their own regional. It happened. So don't think they'll just roll over. LSU prevails though. The kids will be geeked to be playing in the first post season in 3 years.
Much has been made of the pitching strategeries of UNO and the resulting gamesmanship. I don't see it costing UNO has Southern Miss has had a hard time waking up the bats. And that brings us to another LSU/UNO showdown.
UNO has gotten cocky. But it ain't bragging if you can do it. Bottom line, I think LSU drops the win streak but wins the regional and then moves on to host Cal Irvine, winner of the Nebraska regional. How so? I think the Tigers stumble against a solid UNO club, but rally and blow them out of the Box.
And finally, rest in peace Harvey Korman, and thanks for the laughs. Here he is doing his thing we know and love him for, the straight man to Tim Conway on the Carol Burnett Show in the classic Dentist Sketch:
And if you like that, check him out has H. Lamar in the comic masterpiece, Blazing Saddles:
Have some laughs and enjoy yourselves this weekend as the Tigers make a run at yet another title.
