Who needs to talk smack about the Cocks when Darth Visor does it for you?

We still can't hit a deep ball, and that's really frustrating. Just can't hit a deep ball. I don't know how to coach it any differently than how I've been doing.

Here's a quote that instills little confidence.
Ryan is doing all the things he needs to do to show he has a commitment to this team. As long as he goes to class and is doing all the things he needs to do, he'll have no problem with me.

I'm diggin' RP's performance, but the tone of this quote - the lack of confidence and the sort of distant reference - makes me wonder just how solid RP really is. You can almost smell the worry there. What would make me feel more comfortable? Something like:
Ryan has turned this thing around. He's committed to the team and to his own growth. He's our future leader and he's getting a chance to preview that for us right now.
That would make me feel better - something like that.

Matt Flynn on having the patience to wait for his chance at QB behind Russell:

A lot of stuff creeped in my head, and there were some times that were pretty tough. But I grew up a lot. I felt like I didn't want to go anywhere else, and if I kept working hard, good things will happen.

He'll get his first real test tonight, in what promises to be a muggy, wet, insanely loud Tiger Stadium. Dandy Don's for the WP article

Coach Miles on Perrilloux:

"We expect him to play in every game. Getting Ryan on the field benefits
us as we go forward."

Every game? Really? Good for the future, but let's not add another committee to the offense - one is enough.
Beamer, speaking of his discomfort with making significant adjustments to his offensive line:
"But you've got to do what you've got to do right now."
Sounds like a man dealing with a significant problem. I hope he's right. It'd be nice to hold VT to under 100 yards on the ground.

Beamer: "They’re a scary football team... They really are very, very good.”

Marty Mule': "The only time a Tiger fan is truly happy is when LSU wins and they still have something to gripe about."

Well, of course. That's what a fan IS: from the root fanatic, which is from the latin, fanaticus: pertaining to a temple (hello? Tiger Stadium!), inspired by orgiastic rites (shall I list them?), frantic...
VT QB Glennon on LSU's domination of MSU:
If that proves anything, it’s that this is going to be a game of taking care of
the ball and field position. That defense is tough. We’re going to have to be a
lot sharper than we were today.

Miles on inflated and premature BCS expectations:

What we should do is pursue being a quality football team as good as we can
be for next week's game versus a very talented opponent. Those people that are
waiting for the national championship game, don't come! Stay home because you
just never can tell when that comes. That's down the road. We're just trying to
beat Virginia Tech.

I get his point, but I think he should act a little more like he's comfortable being at #2 with high expectations and the whole world watching. Telling folks to stay home because they're getting a little ahead of themselves by talking of national championships? C'mon coach - enjoy it. It won't last forever.

MILES: "...guys that lack character, they won't be on our football team."
