Fifty three days till

You can distract yourself with college baseball or even something crappy like soccer, but eventually, you must face the long march of July and August to get to September.

Sixty days till

Imagine Will Blackwell in a nicely framed shot in which you can see his jersey, featuring his number, 60. Got it? Well done, because you're ahead of the entire internet now. Get yourself a cookie, you earned it. And he's not the only one. So many of the guys on the roster haven't really been highly visible or visible at all.

You know you're headed into an interesting season when so many players that are going to see significant time, or even start, have no impressive tangible background yet. And that's not to say the Tigahs aren't any good. I said it before and will say it again, I think LSU will surprise this year. But this season stands on a knife's edge because there's just not a lot of middle ground. With the schedule, there's not going to be room for games won on subpar effort or luck. They will fight hard and win or fight and lose.

Danny McCray practicing for all those interceptions he's going to pull in under our indomitable new defense this season.

Seven days till

One week! This time next week, I'll be sweating, drinking, eating, sweating, cooking, playing washers and sweating some more. And I'll be happy to sweat. I'll be shoehorned in a gigantic gathering of other sweaty people at 4pm in August in Louisiana and I'll be ecstatic about it.

I had a sweet picture of Highsmith and his beard, alas, now it's gone. Plus, this picture is just an excuse to feature Glenn Dorsey one more time. What an awesome player. It was a pleasure to watch him perform and lead.

Eight days till

Hopefully we'll see a lot more of Trindon doing this. Mainly because I love Verne Lundquist's calls whenever Holliday breaks loose. Since it's Friday, we're having a clearance on youtubes and so you get 2 for 1 dear reader. Enjoy.

"It's Holliday! Oh it's Christmas now!" Goofy as hell but fun. The great blocking is a treat as well:

Gotta love Verne calling "it's over!" before Trindon has crossed our own 35:

Nine days till

Everyone knew this guy would be a talent. It's no wonder he's in the pros as fluid and quick as he is. You can see for yourself below and enjoy watching him completely own a hapless defender. I remember his interview after the game. He said he knew he had the defender, he just had to lead him a bit and then head the other way.

Ten days till

Here's another past Tiger running back I was always extremely proud and a big fan of, Joseph Addai. His name should be fresh in your mind since he's doing what he did best at LSU on an even bigger scale for the Indianapolis Colts. Obviously, he was a talented runner, fighting for every yard. I'm just glad he decided to fight through the injuries and enjoy his past and present success.

Twelve days till

Six plus six equals twelve. So here's two pictures of the greatest mascot ever, and it ain't even close. He's adorable and ferocious and the embodiment of LSU. Cause aren't we all ferocious and adorable in our own special ways?

Bet you didn't know Mike has laser eyes. He rarely has to use them. But they're there.

He can also lick anything to death. Or possibly strangle someone. We're not sure.
