Happy New Year Y'all!! Bowl Recap Time

If you're still reading, I'm back. Took a much needed break during the holidays. My batteries are recharged and the game is in two days. Lot's to talk about so let's get to it! For now, let's look at the bowl games so far.

VERY QUICK BOWL RECAP (by conference)

There's no denying that the SEC was the strongest conference end-to-end this year. No other conference had ten bowl eligible teams and nine bowl selects. And no other conference has six bowl victories this year. Regardless of the outcome of Monday's game, the SEC has lived up to the hype - the toughest conference in the nation. Only Arkansas failed to deliver a respectable performance, but then again Missouri was no flash in the pan. And Georgia exposed Hawaii exactly the way most of us thought they would. Here's the round up.

The SEC is 6-2 in bowl games this year with only LSU's bid for a BCS National Championship remaining. Mississippi State, Alabama, Kentucky, Auburn, Tennessee and Georgia all represented the SEC well. Arkansas was blown out by Missouri in the Cotton Bowl and Florida lost a heartbreaker to Michigan in the Capital One Bowl.

The PAC-10 went 4-2 with USC, Oregon, Oregon State and Cal posting wins, and Arizona State and UCLA losing.

The Big-12 went 5-3 in bowls, with Kansas, Missouri, Texas Tech, Texas, and Oklahoma State posting wins. Texas AM, Colorado and Oklahoma lost.

The Big-10 is 3-4 so far awaiting the results of the LSU-Ohio State matchup. Michigan, Penn State and Purdue won their games, while Michigan State, Indiana, Wisconsin and Illinois lost.

The ACC went 2-6 in bowls, with Boston College and Wake Forest posting the only wins. Virginia Tech, Virginia, Georgia Tech, Florida State, Clemson and Maryland all lost.

The Big East went 3-2 with Cincinnati, West Virginia and Rutgers winning and Connecticut and USF losing.

Conference USA is 1-4 so far awaiting the results of the Tulsa/Bowling Green matchup tomorrow night. East Carolina beat Boise State, but Memphis, Southern Miss, Houston and UCF all lost.

The Mid American is 0-2 so far waiting on the Bowling Green game tomorrow. Both Ball State and Central Michigan lost.

The Mountain West went 4-1 with BYU, Utah, New Mexico and TCU posting wins and Air Force losing.

The Sunbelt went 1-0, with Florida Atlantic beating Memphis.

Finally, the WAC went 1-3 with Fresno State beating Georgia Tech and Hawaii, Boise State and Nevada losing.

Navy was the only Independent in a bowl this year and they lost to Utah.
